Appointments may be booked by telephone, in person at the surgery or via the online 'Access' service. See below to find out whether you may be eligible.
The national policy is that influenza vaccine should be offered to the following groups: 1) all those aged 65 years and over2) all those aged 6 months or over in a clinical risk group: i.e. patients suffering from Chronic respiratory disease, chronic heart disease, chronic renal disease, chronic liver disease, diabetes or immunosupression due to disease or treatment3) those living in long-stay residential care homes or other long-stay care facilities where rapid spread is likely to follow introduction of infection and cause high morbidity and mortality.
4) those who are in receipt of a carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if the carer falls ill.
'SAME DAY' APPOINTMENTS SERVICE
Published 01/09/08
Routine, non-urgent, appointments may still be booked up to two weeks ahead (as at present).
If you need to contact the doctor urgently, you will be offered a number of options.
1. A routine appointment with your own doctor, or another practice GP, but these may not be available immediately.
2. A telephone call from one of the duty doctors if you need advice.
3. A short appointment with one of the duty doctors on that day.
These short appointments will be made available in thirty minute blocks throughout the afternoon, and you may have to wait for a short time to be seen. We will try to ensure that this wait is no more than half an hour.
4. Home visits may be made where a patient is unable to attend the surgery and a doctor has confirmed that a visit is necessary.
5. The existing Out of Hours arrangements (after 6pm and at Weekends and Bank holidays) remain unchanged.
The new arrangements will be carefully monitored to ensure that improved access is achieved
Extended Access Arrangements
Published 17/06/08
We will be starting our pilot extended access service from 1st July for 2 months. We will be offering at least one early morning, midday and later evening surgery each week. We are also re-starting a Saturday morning service on alternate Saturdays with one GP and practice nurse. This means that we will be able to offer better access to our range of chronic disease clinics, for those working away from home or who otherwise struggle to get to the surgery during the normal working week.
The extended access surgeries can be booked by ringing the surgery or online in advance. Appointments are only available on a pre-booked basis and the surgery will only be open to those with appointments during extended access times.
We will publish the dates and times of the extended access surgeries in advance.
We will be evaluating the extended access surgeries over the summer months to see which times are most popular and we hope to publish a more permanent timetable when we've had a chance to get patient comments and feedback.
